PORTOVENERE AND GOLFO DEI POETI
Portovenere recalls a small Christmas crèche: its castle, its walls, the Church of San Lorenzo (all dating back to XII century), its “caruggio lungo” stretching in the thick medieval houses.
And not so far, in the last rock of the cape, the classical black and white façade of San Pietro church.
Portovenere is easy to reach both by boat and by train. So much beauty is reflected in the other coast of the Golfo dei Poeti: Lerici. Here, the dominant position belongs to its castle, witness of the war across the centuries between Genova and Pisa.
